A song to drive to

I am a sucker for travel. One of the forms of travel I enjoy is road trips. I’ve been fortunate to have some wonderful memories with some really wonderful people who made me fall in love with the journey more than the destination. From the hills of Munnar to the beaches of Pondicherry, I have been the happiest being on the road.

Detour on highways, stopping at roadside stalls for food, and waving at kids — a road trip always subtly reminds you of how fortunate you’re to witness the blessings of the Universe. Your sorrows seem little and your happiness aplenty. Your heart is pleasantly content just like tasting the molten chocolate at the tip of a Cornetto.

The most important person of the road trip — the person who gets the music. A playlist will be the game changer of any such trip. It can be a complete buzzkill if the music is drab.

Today’s number is a rather unheard song. It first featured in a Titan ad, and I have been hooked onto it since then. Of course, I love Zoya, Farhan, and Imtiaz for romanticizing travel through their storytelling and music in films, but my today’s pick is this beautiful song-turned-jingle.

ProTip: My favorite moment of a road trip is looking outside the window somberly as the sun goes down like an actress in a 70mm frame. Or, resting my head on the window and staring deep into the abyss as the water trickles slowly down, traversing through my heart one beat at a time.

Yes, I have done this a lot and will continue to.

For November, I’ve taken up the 30-day song challenge, where I’ll post one song that meets a new prompt each day. Let’s see how far I go in this project. You can check the other stories on this blog for the rest of the collection. Drop a comment in case you liked any post or would like me to write more about music and lyrics
